Nurbits A Music Puzzle Game
“Wire neurons. Make music. Rock the house.”

Nurbits started as an experiment: what if learning neuroscience felt like being a sound engineer at a live show?
The core mechanic maps neuron behavior — excitation, inhibition, signal propagation — onto a circuit board of chips. Connecting them correctly unlocks layers of the song. Get it wrong and the music falls apart. It’s puzzle design that teaches without ever feeling like a lesson.
I built the entire game in Unity/C# — the puzzle engine, the Creative Mode editor, the online sharing infrastructure, and the sprite pipeline. Shipping on Steam (Windows, Mac, Linux) with 18 achievements was the capstone of a project that started in a classroom and ended on a digital storefront.
What it does
Campaign mode spans 4 full songs across 4 distinct venues — chiptune, rock, hip-hop, and EDM. Each level teaches a new neuroscience concept through play.
You play as the sound engineer, wiring neuron-based chips on a circuit board to shape the sound and drive the music forward.
21 instruments, a fully featured robot sprite editor, and online level sharing. Build your own puzzles and share them with the community.
Winner of the Apps For Class Challenge — recognized for innovative use of educational technology in an entertainment context.
